It’s been a decade since I lost my husband, Andrew to cancer. Four months after we met and already in love, he received a terminal diagnosis. That was not the end of our story though, he had the best care from conventional medicine, and alternative herbal medicine. I firmly believe that that’s why he outlived his prognosis by five years, the power of plants. And me of course. He was the reason I started making soap. I wanted only the most natural ingredients for him without synthetic additives. He was my inspiration for health and the health of the planet. Soap became my obsession even while teaching high school art full time. Thus, Pumice And Stone Soap Company. This is not a sad story even though Andrew has moved on to greater things. He had an incredible quality of life. For me, I’m left with this ongoing journey.
I am a one woman operator, gardener and forager with ingredients sourced from local neighboring farms, my own urban garden as well as from the wild coastal waters of Oregon. They include organic oils, earth clays, botanicals and seaweeds. Pure essential oils are used for the added extra benefits and a wonderful scent that lasts.
