My name is Kari and I am the person behind Holdfast Bodywork. As a massage therapist, curious person , and lover of travel I try to incorporate those elements into dynamic and therapeutic bodywork in a number of settings and approaches.
I’ve never been a person who has been able to access what we think of in the west as massage; the financial and stigma barriers had always been too much. It wasn’t until I found myself chair massage busking for tips that it occurred to me-bodywork can be out in the open, accessible for all and damn the dim lighting and spa sounds!
My approach is to meet folks where they are at, mobility wise, mentally, and realistically. I have training in multiple modalities but don’t feel like I am boxed in by any one of them. Our bodies are wiser than we give them credit for. The name holdfast came from the part of kelp that is attached to a rock or reef. It keeps the swaying stipe firmly rooted and still allows for movement and growth. It also comes from a sailing/nautical command. It means don’t give or take up any line- stay your course, be patient, notice.
