November 2003 Beautiful Booth of the Month Award:Janna KnealeMoulin Rouge |
|
|
Really, we should have changed the name of the award to "Sparkliest Booth of the Market" for the occasion. Janna Kneale's booth catches every eye that passes, as the light glints and sparkles on the hundreds, or maybe it's thousands, of crystals of every color and shape. Earrings and necklaces on her lace-trimmed display boards are organized by color, and put small items where they are easy to see. Necklaces are grouped on necklace displays, or lined up on black velvet table covers to highlight the colors, and invite inspection. Lots of little treats to look at invite you to come in and look closer. Janna's sparkling personality shines out too, as does her enthusiasm for all that sparkles. She started stringing beads and shells in High School, making "surfer style" jewelry in Huntington Beach. She quickly got burned out on it, since the uglier the jewelry was, the better the tourists liked it! A few years ago, she decided that since she couldn't afford to buy the jewelry she loved, she should just make it. Janna absolutely loves working with crystals, and can't seem to make even one necklace without them, even when she tries. Janna uses both vintage and modern crystals, combined with unique glass and semi-precious stone beads from all over the place. The great floral beads in the earrings pictured to the right come from an artisan in Ohio. You can find Janna and her Beautiful Booth by asking at the Info Booth, or just keeping your eye out for the sparkles. |
